Creating a Spacious and Private Outdoor Living Area with Timbertech Decking
The homeowners of this Des Moines property had a basic concrete patio under the roof, adequate for minimal outdoor use but far from the vibrant living space they envisioned. They approached Deck & Drive Solutions to create a spacious, private retreat that combined comfort and style for outdoor relaxation.
We designed and built a large Timbertech deck that expanded over the original concrete patio. The layout followed the home’s existing angle, giving the deck a modern, geometric shape. The perimeter was framed with accent boards in a contrasting color, adding sophistication and depth to the design.
A wide staircase leads down to a new hard surface landing, extending the usable area of the deck. Post cap and riser lights were incorporated for practical illumination and to highlight the deck’s intricate design.
The hot tub area was carefully placed on a concrete slab below the deck for privacy. A Timbertech privacy wall was constructed around the hot tub, blocking unwanted views and creating a peaceful retreat. A black composite pergola frames the space, offering shelter and a striking contrast to the deck.
The result is a functional, private outdoor space where the homeowners can relax. The Timbertech Legacy Series decking is durable and low-maintenance, and the added lighting ensures both safety and ambiance. The custom pergola and privacy wall provide a secluded environment, making this outdoor space a peaceful escape.
