A Resurface, Reimagined
An elevated deck in West Des Moines came to us ready for a full resurface. We rebuilt its surface in TimberTech AZEK Full PVC, mixing Vintage Weathered Teak with Vintage English Walnut to set up a two-tone contrast that reads modern without trying too hard.
In the main sitting area, a custom English Walnut inlay frames where furniture lands. It’s a small move that does a lot of work, anchoring that part of the deck and signaling the space was planned around how it would actually be used.
Around the perimeter, Trex Rod Rail with horizontal bars keeps sightlines open to the surrounding landscape. Underneath, every structural post and beam got wrapped in custom composite, so what you see from below matches what you see from above, with no raw framing to repaint or replace later.

Designed for the Long Haul
What was an aging elevated deck now reads as if a designer drew it. Two-tone PVC, a walnut inlay where furniture sits, a horizontal rail thin enough to disappear into the view, and a wrapped substructure that finishes the underside as deliberately as the top.
After dark, Trex stair and post cap lights take over, pulling the eye along the edges and turning that inlay into a soft frame underfoot. Nothing here needs staining, sealing, or sanding, just sweeping when leaves drop.
