Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to all your questions about deck building in our comprehensive FAQ page. Get expert advice and tips from a professional to build you the perfect deck for your home.
What types of deck projects do you build?
Through the full year: we specialize in building decks with low-maintenance composite decking with PVC Capped Composite (Timbertech and Trex) and PVC (Timbertech/Azek) decking materials.
If we build a new or resurface your deck, we do offer other options such as pergolas, covered roofs over decks, under deck systems, and other deck projects.
During the slower months (typically November thru March), we will still build with Composite decking and a few wood (Cedar or Treated) deck projects.
We customize our designs to fit your specific needs and preferences.
How long does it take to build a deck?
The time it takes to build a deck depends on the size, complexity, and materials used. We will provide you with a timeline during our consultation process. The average deck project takes about a week from start to finish.
Do you offer a warranty on your work?
Yes, we offer a warranty on our workmanship of 5-10 years (depending on which products used) and 10-Year Structural Warranty. The material also offers a warranty of 25-50 years (depending on your material selection). In addition, we are Certified Contractors with Timbertech and Trex Products – which for certified Pro and Platinum contractors – they carry a labor install warranty which is on top of our workmanship warranty for up 5-7-10 years. We stand behind our work and want you to feel confident in your investment. For detailed info about the Labor and Material warranties offered – please check out our Warranty Page.
Do I need a permit to build a deck?
The need for a building permit depends on your local building codes and regulations. In General: For all New Deck Projects – Yes, and for Resurfacing Existing Decks – usually No. Each project is different but depends on exactly what we are building and what changes are being made to the project. When needed – We will apply for your Building Permit, we will send in the needed framing plans, site plans, construction details, and any other information the city requires. We will also be in contact with the inspectors during the construction phase, then we will request a final inspection from the city when the deck project is complete. We will work with you and the City to ensure that all necessary permits are obtained before construction begins.
Do you offer financing options?
We do not offer any financing options directly because they usually will have a higher rate for the client through a contractor vs the client applying for credit elsewhere. Below are some great financing options to get better rates:
1-Home Equity Loan or Line of Credit: Homeowners can use the equity in their home as collateral to secure a loan or line of credit for their remodeling project.
2-Personal Loan: A personal loan is an unsecured loan that can be used for a variety of purposes, including home renovations. However, interest rates may be higher than home equity loans.
3-Credit Cards: Homeowners can use credit cards to pay for their remodeling project, but this option may come with high interest rates and fees.
4-Government Programs: Depending on the type of remodeling project, there may be government programs or grants available to help with financing.
5-Savings: Homeowners can also save up for their remodeling project over time to pay for it in cash.
**It’s important for homeowners to carefully consider their options and choose the one that best fits their financial situation and goals. They may also want to consult with a financial advisor to ensure they are making the best decision for their financial future.
Can you provide references or examples of your work?
Absolutely! We have a portfolio of our previous deck building projects and testimonials from our clients to review, and we can also provide references upon request.
