Long and Maintenance Free Outdoor Living Space Deck
This deck was a tear off and replace to a low-maintenance deck which the homeowners wanted it to be larger and have it go beyond the edge of their house so there could be cool stairs above a retaining wall. We enlarged this deck from 20′ to 36′ wide with new steps to lower ground. We used a Treated GlueLam so we could span a larger distance for the beam below which allowed us to use fewer support posts and footings. By decreasing the posts below, the below patio would be more open. Another design we did for this project was we separated out the 36′ wide to 3 sections so we could have decorative border between sections which allowed no deck board to be spliced. 12′ wide sections. The railing was a Westbury Tuscany and the posts are every other Timbertech 5″ Post Wraps and also Westbury’s 2″ Posts. This allowed more creative views and gave the railing some girth. Post Cap Lighting was installed on the larger posts as well as Timbertech’s Stair Riser Accent Lights were installed on the stairs. The accent lighting produces a safe, soft-lite walkway throughout the steps and deck. Lighting also creates a beautiful view in the evening. After we built the deck, they had a stamped concrete poured into a patio below. This project turned out great and much outdoor living space was created and will be enjoyed.
