Project Overview:
We transformed an ordinary wood builder deck into a stunning, multi-functional outdoor living space tailored to the needs of a growing family. This project features Timbertech composite decking, an underdeck dry system, and several unique enhancements for safety, play, and comfort.
Timbertech Composite Decking:
The original standard wood deck was replaced with premium Timbertech composite decking with the Timbertech Terrain Series – Silver Maple. This material provides the look and feel of natural wood but with superior durability and low maintenance, ensuring long-lasting beauty and performance. The railing was Westbury Full Aluminum Railing in Tuscany Series – Black.
Underdeck Dry System for Storage and Playhouse Below:
To create a functional space beneath the deck, we installed an underdeck dry system with Trex Rain Escape. This system keeps the area dry, allowing us to build a custom playhouse and storage area. This setup provides a perfect play area for the homeowner’s young child and a practical storage solution.
Slide and Safety Gates:
Safety was a top priority in this project. We installed a slide from the deck to the play area below, complete with a safety gate. Additionally, we added a gate at the top of the stairs to ensure a secure environment for the child.
Custom Frame with Canvas Shade:
Above the deck, we installed a custom Framed Shade* with a removable canvas in Blue. This shade provides protection from the sun during the summer and can be removed in the winter to allow sunlight to warm the house, optimizing comfort throughout the year.
Stamped Concrete Patio:
At ground level, we poured a beautiful stamped concrete patio. This area is perfect for a fire pit and additional outdoor living space, enhancing the versatility and enjoyment of the backyard.
Final Touches:
This project seamlessly integrates safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal, creating an inviting outdoor space for the whole family to enjoy. From the playhouse and storage area below the deck to the stylish shade above and the inviting patio below, every detail was designed with the family’s lifestyle in mind.
