New Cedar with Metal Ceiling and Screen Room
The original deck on this house was not designed well for usability and the stairs were going the wrong direction which didn’t make sense for the layout of the backyard. We decided to tear off the complete deck and redesign. The original deck had a dry under deck system so that was a priority and the other priority was to have fewer posts below to keep the view as open as possible. We simplified the deck layout and then added the stairs with a landing on the other side of the deck then turn the stairs with a middle landing. We then added a Metal Roof Ceiling which is more cost effective but keep below dry during rain. A little touch we did that the homeowner wanted was a little lip on the fascia to keep their dog’s ball from rolling off when playing on the deck. This deck turned out great with the usability and the openness from below the deck as well as the black spindles above to open the view from above.
Revised (3 months later): the homeowner wanted us to come back and install a Screen Room below their deck we just built new a few months ago. We used ScreenEze with SuperScreen and installed below their deck. The ScreenEze product allows us to create large screen openings to keep the view. We already installed a ceiling at the original time we built the deck. We then used (2) storm doors with Screens for the openings. Now they can enjoy their space bug free!!
