Trex Grays Deck with Pergola
This deck was a fun project from the deck design phase all the way to the finished project. The home is pretty new still, and it originally had a covered corner deck, but it was only about 8′ deep which was hard to furnish and did not have any steps down to the ground. With the existing deck, we removed the existing decking and railing – then installed new on the existing frame. We then built a new 16×14 deck next to the original to expand the outdoor living area. To keep the shade, we built a pergola over the new deck which will serve as a cooler area and gave the deck a more custom look. We decided to add some picture frame boards to outline the different living areas with a darker color board. The materials we chose for this deck project to go with the house was Trex Capped Composite Decking. The colors were Pebble Grey for the main decking and treads. Then we outlined it with the darker color of Winchester Grey. The new pergola is made of wood and will be painted at a later date to match the house’s color. We did wrap the new pergola posts and the existing roof posts with DSI/Westbury’s Aluminum Post Sleeves that match the railing. The railing we installed was black so it was more open and the product was Westbury’s Full Aluminum Railing (Tuscany Series). For the last step, we installed a Westbury Gate with a locking latch for security of the small ones from leaving the deck. This deck project greatly enlarged the outdoor living area and created a great useful area with a view to the rear lake. The colors and styles of everything turned out great and the homeowners love it. Many years of enjoyment to come!!
