Timbertech Flower Wall and Custom Benches
This deck was very fun to build with the design chosen and the homeowner was great to work with!! This house is a split foyer which always has a design challenge when enlarging because of window placement from one area of the house to the other. When expanding a deck to the other side of the house, the deck cannot be on the same level because of the windows would be in the middle of the framing. We wanted the deck to look like it was designed with the house and also didn’t want the 2 decks to look like they were pieced together. In the middle of the 2 decks, we decided to make a custom bench that tied the 2 together. Another design element the homeowner wanted was privacy on the right side of the deck that didn’t look just like a privacy wall. We built the wall at 5′ tall then added planters on the back half so it would soften the top view. The planters are removable so it makes it is easier to plant and/or take in the Winter Months. The decking is Timbertech PVC Capped Composite that is Antigua Gold, railing post are Timbertech Wraps which are Walnut in color and the railing is Westbury’s Full Aluminum Tuscany Railing with a custom color of Speckled Walnut. With the vertical pieces (on bench and wall), we picked a composite fence picket because it had a different texture and a color that was great as an accent color with the decking and matched pretty well with the railing. The deck has a very custom look and is maintenance free – the homeowner and dogs will enjoy for years!!
